The Bandingilo National Park: A Hidden Gem in South Sudan
Nestled in South Sudan’s Equatoria region, The Bandingilo National Park, also known as Bandingilo, is a true wilderness wonderland. Spanning 10,000 square kilometres, this park was established in 1992 and offers diverse ecosystems and wildlife.
Named after the local Bari and Mundari word “Bandingilo” (meaning “place of elephants”), the park is home to elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and various birds. Visitors can explore the park on foot, by vehicle, or on horseback, and enjoy camping and game viewing.
The Bandingilo National Park is a relatively unexplored area, offering a unique and authentic experience for adventurous travellers.
