Bor is a historic city nestled in the heart of South Sudan’s Jonglei State. Situated on the eastern bank of the White Nile River, it serves as the headquarters of the region. Bor is renowned for its proximity to the Sudd, a vast wetland of immense ecological significance.
The Sudd, a vast expanse of floating vegetation, is one of the world’s largest freshwater wetlands and the largest in the Nile Basin. This unique ecosystem is a haven for a diverse array of wildlife, including hundreds of species of birds and animals. The Dinka people refer to the Sudd as “Toc,” a testament to its significance in their lives.
The Sudd offers unparalleled opportunities for birdwatching, with species like the Great White Pelican, Black Crowned Crane, White Stork, and Black Tern finding refuge in its lush landscapes. Visitors can also spot crocodiles and hippos along the shores of the Nile River.

Upon arrival at Juba Airport, you'll be warmly greeted by your local guide. You then will check into their chosen hotel, freshen up, and meet with their dedicated tour guide. A brief introductory meeting will be held, outlining the itinerary and addressing any questions.
Depending on the time of arrival, guests may choose to relax at the hotel or explore Juba's vibrant city centre. This is also an excellent opportunity to exchange currency or withdraw funds from an ATM, ensuring a smooth transition into South Sudanese life.
As the day concludes, guests can unwind at their hotel or savour a delicious local meal at a nearby restaurant.
After a leisurely breakfast, our guests can relax and unwind while our team handles the necessary documentation for a smooth journey.
We'll then embark on a scenic drive to Bor, a historic town located in Jonglei State. The journey takes approximately three hours, offering breathtaking views of the South Sudanese countryside.
Upon arrival in Bor, our team will work with local authorities to ensure a seamless experience in the town and the Sudd wetlands.
In the afternoon, we'll explore the vibrant town of Bor. Visit the local port along the Nile River, where you can savour delicious locally prepared fish. Explore the bustling Dinka markets of Malik and Langbar, immersing yourself in the local culture and discovering unique handicrafts.
For a taste of traditional South Sudanese entertainment, we may also have the opportunity to watch a thrilling wrestling match at the Simba grounds.
As the sun begins to set, we'll embark on a peaceful boat ride through the Sudd Swamps. Enjoy the breathtaking views, spot a variety of birds, and experience the tranquillity of this unique ecosystem.
After a day filled with exploration and adventure, we'll return to our campsite or a local hotel for dinner and a restful night's sleep.
